Beautiful autumn leaf colors seen in Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto’s temples, shrines, castle, and gardens are beautiful anytime of the year, however, during autumn Kyoto has a special brilliance with the added colors of the changing fall leaves.  A combination of vivid red, yellow, and oranges, the scene is one of the most beautiful in the world. CNN published the 20 great places around the world to travel this fall and one of those places mentioned was leaf viewing in Japan.

Formerly the Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, Kyoto’s Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palace, castle, and gardens  are even more beautiful when viewed in the midst of the changing color of the autumn leaves.  Check out the above videos that provide a great introduction to the fall foliage and help you plan for your next Kyoto travel adventure.  Also, the below pictures will give added appreciation for Kyoto’s fall season brilliance.

Enkō-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple located near the Shugakuin Imperial Villa at Sakyō-ku, Ichijo-ji, Kotani-cho, in northeast Kyoto, Japan. It is famous for its fall foliage and Suikinkutsu.

Located in the central part of the island of Honshu, Kyoto has a population close to 1.5 million. Formerly the Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, it is now the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture located in the Kansai region.
